On 1 October, the governments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region held National Day receptions to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The Macao SAR Government’s reception was held at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai said Macao will strive to open a new chapter of high-quality development of “one country, two systems” with Macao characteristics. “We will deepen reform in an all-round way with greater resolve and more forward-looking thinking, coordinate high-quality development and high-level security, and make greater contributions on the great journey of building a strong country and national rejuvenation, writing a new chapter in the successful practice of ‘one country, two systems’ with Macao characteristics.”
The Hong Kong SAR Government also held a National Day reception on 1 October. Lai Ka-ying, a Hong Kong astronaut on the Shenzhou-23 mission, sent blessings from space via video. Representatives from various sectors noted that this year marks the launch of Hong Kong’s first five-year plan, and pledged to seize opportunities and open new horizons. Mr Bryan Lin Xiaohui, a Hong Kong member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of Realord Technology Company Limited and The Sincere Company Limited was invited to attend.
Lin Xiaohui, CPPCC National Committee Member, Hong Kong Justice of the Peace, and Chairman of Realord Technology Company Limited, said: “We will stay true to our original aspiration in science and technology innovation, tackle challenges with courage, and proactively serve as a bridge for innovation and technology. We will support the country’s self-reliance and strength in science and technology, and contribute to Chinese-style modernisation with concrete results in technological innovation.”
